(2 week "mini-camp" or 4 week session options)
Girls and boys entering 6th grade
(2 week "mini-camp" option)
This unit allows campers to fully experience the Sabra program. We offer four two-week mini-camp sessions (an ideal way to explore the world of overnight camping) for this age group as well as two four-week sessions. Sharone and Golan campers enjoy most of the activities that our other campers enjoy, including an in-camp overnight, a one-night canoe camping outing and special Unit Day at Big Surf Water Park. These campers have their own cheers and traditions, and are under the guidance of sensitive, caring counselors and activity specialists.
(4 week sessions)
The Ayelet and Almagor units emphasize the development of positive self image and cooperative group living skills. Daily activities include introductory and advanced learning in all focus areas. Entering 6th grade campers can learn to mountain bike on miles of wooded trails. Entering seventh graders learn to climb the 38-foot climbing tower and participate on the high ropes course events. Ayelet and Almagor each enjoy a two-night, three-day river trip on one of Missouri's beautiful scenic waterways.
(4 week sessions)
Specially assigned staff earns the trust of these older Sabra campers. The Habonim Unit stresses social skill building and advanced group living skills. The individualized focus program areas provide advanced skill development. Older Habonim write, produce and act in their own all camp play, Habonim Follies, a camp tradition since 1970. The younger Habonim campers participate in a three- night, four-day float trip on one of Missouri's scenic waterways. The older Habonim campers make the trek to Arkansas. They experience opportunities to hike and float in both state and national forests on a four-night, five-day trip.
(4 week sessions)
Living in their own tent village in camp, these campers and their staff enjoy a specially designed trip to Colorado by chartered coach bus. The two-week trip emphasizes leadership development and includes hiking, white water rafting, rappelling, alpine sliding and camping in the Rocky Mountains. Masada campers participate in a customized leadership training focus and attend regular camp activities when they are not on the road.
(Two - 4 week sessions)
Special leadership training program for our young staff which emphasizes counselor skill development in activity areas and cabin groups. Separate interview and application available through the camp office.
Itinerary highlights include Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Masada, kibbutz, the Dead Sea, Eilat, and so much more. The combination of friendship and touring Israel is an enriching "once-in-a-lifetime" adventure you will never forget. Many of our Camp Sabra staff members are Israel tour graduates from recent years. This year we plan to join with another camp for our tour, bringing together teens from different camps and communities for an exciting adventure together.
