Health & Safety

A Physician and 2 registered nurses are on site full time.

Our air-conditioned infirmary is located in the center of camp and is fully stocked to meet our campers health needs. Our wellness program includes healthy snacks, cold water in the activity areas, appropriate rest time, sunscreen, and ear drops after lake swimming and well balanced meals. We also check the campers when they arrive on Day 1 and just before they head home. A physician and 2 registered nurses are on site at all times.

Linda Thurmer, Infirmary Manager, has been a nurse for 28 years, working in several areas, mostly in Burn/Trauma and Intensive Care. She has been working in camp nursing at Sabra and Girl Scout camps for 8 years. This will be her 6th year at Sabra and 3rd year as Infirmary Manager. Linda has 4 children, all of whom have attended Sabra at one time or another.

In addition, many staff are trained and certified in Red Cross Water Safety, CPR and First Aid during our staff training week.

If your child has special dietary needs, the Camp Director will gladly work with you to insure that your child's needs are met. A vegetarian option is available with all meat meals. There are no peanut products offered at camp!

We will provide alternative proteins such as hummus and sunflower butter. For other food allergies, please contact the camp director and we will work to make sure your child has a safe experience in our dining hall.
