Since 1938, the St. Louis Jewish Community Centers Association has provided continuous quality resident camping programs at the Lake of the Ozarks. From 1938-1969, Camp Hawthorn served as home away from home for thousands of campers and staff. When Hawthorn's size could no longer accommodate a growing camper population, the JCC purchased the current camp site (formerly Camp Wah Kon Dah) in 1969. In 1970, Camp Sabra was born!
